First time here. Small place. I've worked in the restaurant and bar business. Food portions are more than generous. Service was on point. Prices are great, especially for the amount and quality of the food. Slow down and enjoy your meal. Do everyone a favor and tip your servers with cash. THEY ALSO CATER
Nice old world atmosphere, terrific sandwich and great service from Lisa! Thank you for proving that there is still someone in New Port Richey who serves good corned beef, correct that make that great corned beef
My two sons wanted to surprise me with a nice breakfast this Sunday morning! The weather was perfect so when we arrived at Herschel’s Scratch Kitchen we sat outside. I ordered an omelette which was excellent and my sons were equally impressed with their shrimp and grits. I highly recommend this eatery to anyone who wants to enjoy delicious breakfast food at a great price!
We visited while on vacation. We had five people and they were quick to seat us and get our order in. Everyone’s dish was amazing. The maple glazed grilled chicken sandwich and mashed potato salad was delicious, as well as the banana bread french toast!
Well first time here....no, we’re not vacationing nor are we new to the area but yes new somewhat. We recently purchased a vacation home on the water and we will definitely be visiting you guys again. The outdoor seating area was very quaint, the beer was cold and the food we all ordered was delicious and fresh. Our server was very accommodating and friendly. We are originally from the Land O Lakes area, one born and one raised in Florida. We’ve frequented the area years ago after a day of boating we’d then eat somewhere on Main Street. We are thrilled to be “new” to the area and look forward to trying more yummy sounding menu items. See y’all again soon!
My wife, our daughter and son-in-law, our 1 year old grandchild and our dog visited Herschel's last Thursday late-morning. We were immediately given an outside table, shaded and very comfortably-situated. A high-chair was immediately provided for our grandson, whose meal, at the request of his Mom, came out rather expeditiously. The rest of us shared an appetizer of (5 nicely-sized) Fried Green Tomatoes which, with accompanying remoulade, were as pleasing in taste as they were in presentation. My daughter, a "Benedict-aficianado," ordered and enjoyed the Classic Benedict. My wife chose the Thursday Special - Fried Chicken. This dish was generous in size, well-seasoned and full of flavor. I opted for the Big Daddy's Southern Reuben, a 6-hour-braised brisket topped with cole slaw, remoulade and melted swiss cheese on marble rye bread. Absolutely delicious! Herschel's is a dog-friendly restaurant- our dog was given ample water in a bowl and we were told that there is a little dog menu as well. Our server Dani was friendly and responsive. I give 4 and not 5 stars for service because it took a bit longer than one would expect for our meals to come out. For a good breakfast or lunch, Herschel's Scratch Kitchen is well worth a visit. We will return again.
Decided to stop by Hershel’s scratch kitchen for brunch with my wife and son. First impression of the place was small but cozy with plenty of seating outside and some seating inside for I’d guesstimate 40 folks. We looked over the menu and I compared pictures of the food before ordering online. Wife chose the world’s famous chicken Benedict. The home fries were fantastic, larger than a lot of places but flavored very well. The chicken Benedict was outstanding. The chicken was paired with an absolutely phenomenal jalapeno cream sauce, as well as some perfectly poached eggs over a biscuit. Cheese appeared to be sprinkled over the top as well. Together this combination would make the angels sing in heaven it’s that good. I ordered the chicken and waffle with a side of two over medium eggs. The eggs were made just right. The chicken was juicy and very flavorful. The waffle was perfectly made and paired very well together. I’d never had chicken and waffles before but can see why everyone loves this combination. Overall this place is our new go to breakfast spot and once you stop by I’m sure it’ll be yours too!
First time visit with my girlfriend and we absolutely loved Herschel's! The food was excellent, hot and fresh. My chicken eggs Benedict was fantastic, and my girlfriend's BLGT was also delicious. The staff was friendly, but get there early for indoor seating because it fills up quickly.
